FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method is realised by hot moulding the starting powder at constant specific pressure of 7.5 MPa, first at temperature of 80-100°C for 30 minutes and then at temperature of 110-130°C for 60 minutes. The starting powder used is ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, additionally containing 5-20 wt % aluminium oxide powder which is coated with polyvinyl alcohol. The method also enables to increase density, hardness and wear resistance of articles made using technology based on the invention.
EFFECT: high wear resistance of composite materials based on ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene.
