FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used for determining inertia moments of different items, including large-sized and low-stiffness, which have restrictions on the plant in inclined position, for example large-sized space vehicles. When implementing the method, the item is installed on the platform of the oscillating device and inertia moment of the item is determined as per oscillation periods of the item relative to vertical longitudinal axis of the item. In order to determine inertia moments relative to inclined axes, the oscillation axis of the oscillating device is turned without changing the vertical position of the item. The device includes the oscillating system and the turning assembly of the item relative to the oscillation axis of the platform. In addition, it is equipped with the housing turning assembly, the turning angle of which is chosen equal and opposite directed to the turning angle of turntable axis.
EFFECT: enlarging functional capabilities owing to providing the determination of inertia moments of large-sized and low-stiffness items at provision of vertical position of the item, which almost excludes the deformation due to the item inclination and associated measurement errors of such deformation.
