If in any of the three days, the concentration of acetic acid is 0.19000 mmole/l and higher, the concentration of propionic acid is 0.00018 mmole/l and higher, the concentration of butyric acid is 0.00008 mmole/l and higher, the unfavourable clinical course is predicted.

EFFECT: accuracy and effectiveness of assessing the postoperative clinical course in the patients with peritonitis, a possibility to make an adequate decision on re-laparotomy.
