FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to surgery, and can be used to determine indications for relaparotomy in patients operated primarily for peritonitis. That is ensured by determining the lactate content in the abdominal exudate during the primary operation. Further, the level of lactate in the abdominal drainage contents is determined daily. If the level of lactate in the contents of the drainages is increased by 4 mmol/l and more, the progression of peritonitis is diagnosed and the indications for relaparotomy are set.
EFFECT: method enables the early and accurate diagnosis of the progression of peritonitis, which contributes to earlier repeated surgical intervention and, consequently, improved treatment results.
