FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method which facilitates detection of potential deposits of hydrocarbons, which involves structural interpretation of a three-dimensional array of seismic data, followed by conversion of the three-dimensional array of seismic data to a three-dimensional array of sedimentation cuts. Another step of the method is stratigraphic interpretation of the three-dimensional array of sedimentation cuts, involving identification and obtaining of boundary surfaces of sedimentation systems or elements of sedimentation systems in the array of the data of sedimentation cuts. The final step of the method is reverse conversion of boundary surfaces in the coordinate space of the initial array of seismic data.
EFFECT: high accuracy of seismic exploration.
