NEEDLE PRICK PROTECTOR Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61M5/32

Abstract RU 2481859 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment, namely a needle prick protector to be used together with injection devices such as syringes. The needle prick protector for an injection device having a cannula comprises a protective case to be attached to the injection device which consists of three parts, having a first inoperative position, a second operative position, and a third protective position. The case is designed and mounted in such a way that in the first inoperative position, it tightly incorporates the needle; in the second operative position, the first part of the case is removed, the second part is still attached to the injection device, and the third part is rotated about a hinge connection to open the needle, and in the third protective position, the third part is rotated about the hinge connection to close, at least, a needle tip, and is held by the second part. The second and third parts are connected by the hinge connection and a locking device which is involved in the inoperative position and the protective position. The locking device includes at least one pair of stepped sections on the second and third parts, and in the inoperative position, the stepped sections of the pair are coupled by a weak section which is broken with an angular displacement of the third part from the inoperative position. According to the second version of the device, to prevent the needle prick, the locking device comprises at least one locking pin on the second part or the third part, which is engaged with a response slot of the other. Each locking pin has two latches. The first latch is fixed in a recess of the related slot in the inoperative position. The second latch is fixed in the recess in the operative position. According to the third version of the device, to prevent the needle prick, the locking device comprises a first mechanism for the inoperative position and a second mechanism for the protective position. The first mechanism has a projection on the second part or the third part of the case, which is engaged with the response recess on the other part. The second mechanism comprises the locking pin on one part which is engaged with the response slot on the other part.

EFFECT: device is easy to manufacture and use, and safe to use.
