FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: catheter system with a blood sampling needle holder acting as a cannula sleeve for introducing an intravenous catheter, as well as to a method for assembling such a system. The catheter system with a needle holder includes a catheter hub, a needle and a needle holder for blood sampling. The catheter hub has a catheter tube with a distal opening attached to the catheter hub. The needle comprises a pointed distal needle tip and a pointed proximal needle tip, wherein the pointed distal needle tip protrudes from the distal opening of the catheter tube. The blood sampling needle holder comprises a needle hub with a hole containing a needle passed through it, and a housing with an internal space, the size of which is designed to receive a vacutainer. The catheter hub is in contact with the blood sampling needle holder, and the pointed proximal tip of the needle is located in the interior of the housing in a ready-to-use position. A method for assembling a catheter system with a needle holder includes attaching the aforementioned needle to a blood sampling needle holder; connecting the blood sampling needle holder to the aforementioned catheter hub so that the needle passes through the catheter hub and the catheter tube and the pointed distal tip of the needle is located behind the distal end hole of the catheter tube; wherein the blood sampling needle holder has a body forming an internal space, the size of which is designed to receive the vacutainer, and the pointed proximal tip of the needle is located in the internal space.

EFFECT: with just one needle prick, perform many medical procedures that would otherwise require multiple needle pricks, and also reduce the amount of hazardous medical waste kits generated by these procedures.
