FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and may be used for reconditioning worn-out surfaces of gears. Wear proof coating is applied on iron gear tooth surface, its thickness being equal to that of worn-out layer and not exceeding allowance for tooth profile. Gear surfaces not subjected to reconditioning are coated with protective copper 5-10 mcm-thick layer. Wear proof coating is applied by thermal diffusion saturation at 1000-1050°C. Said coating is composed powder mix containing vanadium, chromium or manganese as ferroalloys, inert filler and diffusion activator. Saturation with vanadium is carried out for 4-6 hours to make 40-50 mcm-thick reconditioned layer. Saturation with chromium or manganere is carried out for 10-12 hours to make 50-60 mcm-thick reconditioned layer.
EFFECT: recovery of initial sizes.
