FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method for wear resistance improvement of cast iron gear wheels implies that the wheels' surface is evenly coated by wear resistant material and transverse grooves with filler are made on the operating surface of the teeth. The transverse grooves are of semicircle shape in the cross cut section and are made on the operating surfaces of the wheel teeth without opening to the end face at an angle to the perpendicular. The depth of the transverse grooves is equal to the thickness of the diffusion zone obtained as a result of thermodiffusion saturation of cast iron by carbide formers.
EFFECT: extended service life.
