FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a water treatment method. Natural calcium carbonate with an activated surface is brought into contact with treated water. The natural calcium carbonate with an activated surface used in the method is a product of reaction of natural calcium carbonate with an acid and carbon dioxide formed in situ during acid treatment and/or coming from an external source. The calcium carbonate is prepared in form of an aqueous suspension with pH higher than 6.0. A polymer flocculant is also added to the treated water after adding the natural calcium carbonate with an activated surface.
EFFECT: high cost efficiency of the treatment method and high efficiency of removing a wide range of pollutants from treated water.
