SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to radiology, neurosurgery orthopedics, neurology. Computed tomography is performed. Dimensions of vertebral canal, dural sac and vertebrae bodies are measured parallel to caudal endplate of overlying vertebra in segments LIII-LIV, LIV-LV, LV-SI. Sagittal, frontal and oblique dimensions of vertebral canal, dural sac and vertebrae bodies are determined. Measurements are carried out at 6 levels of each examined segment, namely at the levels of body and caudal endplate of overlying vertebra, apical endplate and bidy of underlying vertebra and two measurements at the level of intervertebral disk. Coefficient of stenosing process (Zn) is calculated by formula. If Zn value is from 0 to 3.0, absence of stenosing process is diagnosed; if Zn value is from 3.0 to 3.44 - initial stenosing process without neurological manifestations; if Zn is from 3.44 to 4.0 - stenosing process with moderate neurological manifestations; if Zn is from 4.0 to 5.0 - stenosing process with expressed neurological manifestations, if Zn is 5.0 and higher - decompensated stenosing process.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase accuracy of diagnostics.
