FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method includes registration of partial discharges, measurement of their average characteristics that are used for calculation of the limit and current indicators of equipment condition that are compared to each other. At operation commencement, under production conditions, one determines the initial value of average power of signals from partial discharges P0 and the initial value of inhomogeneities concentration corresponding thereto; ten (preferably -under laboratory conditions) one determines the allowable limit value of average inhomogeneities concentration and the power of signals from partial discharges Pn∂ corresponding thereto. In the process of operation one repeats determination of the average Rn∂=Pn∂/P0 and Rm=Pm/P0 values, calculates R n∂/Rm ratio and, if the value of the latter is more than 1 but less than 1.1, concludes on the equipment operation being hazardous; in case the ratio value is within the range from 1.1 to 1.3 one concludes on the equipment operation being moderately hazardous; if the ratio is equal to 1, one decides on insulation material replacement. The value of average power of signals from partial discharges is measured during at least two semi-period of power supply voltage between the amplitude values.
EFFECT: simplification of the method and improvement of its promptitude.
