SUBSTANCE: method involves emission of electromagnetic energy towards a target and receiving signals reflected from the target, performing narrow-band filtration of component frequencies of the Doppler spectrum of the reflected signal, measuring Doppler frequency Δfi of each spectrum component of the reflected signal according to the filter number, determining angular coordinates Δφi of each spectrum component of the reflected signal, determining characteristic velocity of each shining point on the detected target using the expression V i = Δ f i λ 2 cos Δ φ i , where λ is the wavelength of the emitted signal, comparing the obtained characteristic velocity values of each shinning point in accordance with the expression ΔVi=|Vi-Vi+1|, if ΔVi≥U, where U is a threshold value, the signals belong to one target; further determination of a group target based on comparing the obtained characteristic velocity values of each shining point in accordance with the expression ΔVi=|Vi-Vi+1|, wherein if ΔVi≥U1, where U1 is a threshold value, the signals belong to a group target.
