FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing a carbon dioxide adsorbent for use in respiratory protection equipment. The method involves forming a dispersion of hydroxides of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals and moulding adsorbent fibres. The dispersion is formed by mixing hydroxides of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals with a fluoropolymer in weight ratio (70-85):(30-15), respectively, and an organic volatile solvent. Moulding is carried out by exposing the dispersion to an electrostatic field.
EFFECT: high activity of the adsorbent with respect to carbon dioxide, high mechanical strength and low resistance to gas flow.
