FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. The method of producing chlorine from hydrogen chloride using tungsten-containing compounds involves chlorination of tungsten trioxide with hydrogen chloride at temperature higher than 1400 K. The formed tungsten dioxydichloride is separated from the gas mixture of reaction products and oxidised with oxygen at temperature below 900 K to obtain chlorine. Tungsten trioxide is returned to the chlorination step.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain chlorine from hydrogen chloride with high specific output without catalysts.
