FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: the offered rail contains from more than 0.89 up to 1.20%, silicon from 0.10 to 1.00%, manganese from 0.40 to 1.50% and, if required, at least, one of elements taken from the group including, chromium, molybdenum, vanadium, niobium, cobalt and boron, and preservation of high temperature of hot rolling or steel rail heated up to high temperature for heat treatment. The method of manufacture of the offered rail includes cooling of rail head part at high rate of 1 to 10 C/s from austenitic zone of temperature to cooling stop-temperature from 700 to 500 C to provide for hardness of rail head part equalling, at least, 320 to depth of 20 mm. EFFECT: improved wear resistance and resistance to breakage, and properties imposed to rails on sharply bent sections of heavy loaded railroads. 13 cl, 12 dwg , 9 tbl
