FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: method includes getting two digital images of an object using two cameras spaced along the horizontal line at the available distance. The distance to the object is identified by the shift between images on the horizontal axis. The size of the scanning window with the object image is selected so that difference of distances to certain fragments of the object is less than the instrumental resolution by distance. Scanning is carried out along the horizontal and vertical line, shift between images Δx is defined by position of the maximum value of 2D rated correlation function. The correlation function maximum position is confirmed in a subpixel range, and the maximum is localised between the grid node with the highest value of the correlation function and its adjacent nodes. Distance and dimensions of the object are defined. The distance to the separated area of the object is defined based on where Lo - distance between points of photographing in the space, f - focus distance of the camera, Δx, Δy - shifts between images along the horizontal and vertical lines, accordingly.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of distance measurements.
