FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method for determination of the length of a power transmission line connecting the first location to the second one; characteristic of the method is provision for the first signal in the first location, such signal having the first carrier frequency (f₁); the first signal is transmitted from the first location to the second one via power transmission lines; in the second location one provides for the second signal having the second carrier frequency (f₁'); one measures the first difference of phases between the first and the second signals in the second location and calculates the length value by the measured phase difference. The device implementing this method is also proposed.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of power transmission line length determination and measurement process simplification.
