FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of pigments, ceramics, adsorbents, cosmetics, antibacterial preparations and catalysts. The method of producing photocatalytically active titanium dioxide from titanium tetrachloride involves precipitation of titanium dioxide by simultaneously discharging into water a solution of a titanium salt and aqueous ammonia solution at constant pH and temperature and intense stirring, washing, drying and heat treatment of the formed precipitate. Precipitation is carried out from titanyl sulphate solution at pH 3-6 and temperature 50-80°C. The titanyl sulphate solution is prepared by dissolving titanium tetrachloride at room temperature in weakly concentrated sulphuric acid 4.5-22% with the weight ratio SO4/Ti=0.5-3, followed by dilution with distilled water to concentration 150-250 g/l TiO2.
EFFECT: invention increases photocatalytic activity of titanium dioxide obtained from titanium tetrachloride.
