FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method involves sensitising titanium dioxide by adding an activating additive (organic dyes and coloured coordination compounds). The additive is added to the reaction mixture during synthesis of titanium dioxide via hydrolysis of solvated titanyl sulphate at a coagulation step simultaneously with a coagulant.

EFFECT: high photocatalytic activity of sensitised titanium dioxide, in form of anatase and η-TiO2, in the visible range while improving energy-efficiency of the manufacturing process thereof.
