FIELD: radio engineering, communication.

SUBSTANCE: after finding a first maximum of the modulus of accumulation results, a second maximum of the modulus of accumulation results is found; if frequency intervals of the maxima lie next to each other and the ratio of the second maximum to the first maximum is not less than the side-lobe level of the amplitude-frequency characteristic of integrators (4), a frequency adjustment ΔF is calculated; if the number of the frequency interval of the first maximum is greater than the number of the frequency interval of the second maximum, the frequency estimate F is equal to the midpoint of the frequency interval of the first maximum minus the frequency adjustment ΔF, otherwise the frequency estimate F is equal to the midpoint of the frequency interval of the first maximum plus the frequency adjustment ΔF.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determining frequency without increasing signal search time and number of correlation devices, which is vital for detecting short-time signals, and introducing further signal processing at a frequency closer to the maximum of the amplitude-frequency characteristic.
