FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: travelling-wave tubes (TWT) with operating principle of permanent long-term interaction of electron stream with travelling field in non-resonance oscillation system can be used in different communication electronics equipment. TWT contains an electron gun that acts as a slow-structure system and consists of the circuit of coupled resonators; input and output waveguide adapters with sealed dielectric partitions, focusing system as a number of electric or permanent magnets and collector. Low quarter-wave coaxial resonators are connected to input and output waveguide adapters; they are tuned to frequencies close to band edges of slow-wave structure and introduce losses in these areas.
EFFECT: simplification of TWT structure and improvement of heat removal from slow-wave structure by prevention of potential TWT self-excitation.
