FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises, at least one cooler with nozzles to feed coolant distributed and/or controlled over width and arranged to allow adjustment of their position relative to slab or trip width. Said nozzles are located at positions of increased slab or strip temperature or subject to strip observed flatness. Coolant is fed so that surface irregularity is either smoothed or eliminated or, depending upon measured strip outline, coolant fed in controlled mode so that strip outline approximates to desirable target outline. Device incorporates pickup to determine temperature distribution over width of slab or strip while nozzle is controlled in response to pickup signal. This device can be mounted at various sections of continuous casting units and rolling mills.
EFFECT: higher quality of rolled stock.
