FIELD: metalworking.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in rolling metal strip mill. Method is carried out at continuous casting installation and followed in feed direction first furnace with non-cooled feed rollers, second furnace and finishing mill. At step a) volume of metal slab or metal strip production is defined during given production cycle, containing at least two different metal slabs or two metal strips. At step b) temperature of metal slabs at inlet to finishing mill is defined. At step c) temperature TAO1 of slabs at first furnace (3) outlet is defined, maximum value of which is 1,125°C, wherein its value is selected less than the highest temperature TFM, determined at step b), and less than or equal to the lowest temperature TFM. At step d) slabs are heated in first furnace up to outlet temperature TAO1. At step e) slab is heated in second furnace up to temperature TFM, exceeding TAO1 reached at step d).
EFFECT: reduced power consumption in rolling metal strip is ensured.
