METHOD OF RESTORING INTACTNESS OF STERNUM FRAME IN CASE OF STERNO-MEDIASTINITIS Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61B17/00 

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to thoracic surgery, and can be applied in elimination of complications, arising after operations with application of longitudinal sternotomy. Method lies in application of fixing elements, segments of tubular cord, woven from titanium nickelide thread. Segments of cord are passed into canals, made symmetrical in area of 2, 3 and 4 intercostal spaces around sternum. After that, sternocostal frame is compressed until complete contact of right and left halves of sternum and ends of each cord are tied to each other. It is possible to use trocar curved by 90° on arc with radius 45-50 mm congruently with curved stylet. Trocar is stuck in on external edge of sternum, passed behind sternum in transverse with respect to its longitudinal axis direction and stuck out into operation wound on posterior surface of sternum. Polychlorovinyl guide, fixed to titanium-nickelide cord by means of ligature, is pushed into trocar opening after removal of stylet. After that, cord is pulled into trocar cannula and trocar is removed from wound.

EFFECT: application of claimed invention makes it possible to increase treatment quality, as well as to ensure reliability of matching sternum edges due to intraoperative provision of adequate sizes of fixing elements and tightening efforts that they develop.
