FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to repair of worn-out shaft journals without changing shaft initial size. Proposed method comprises turning worn-out shaft journal surface and fitting extra element thereto. Note here that round billet from sheet of age-hardening alloy is used as said extra element. Note also that it is fitted in place by rolling a cap on pre-turned shaft journal surface. Then, cap bottom is cut off to make rolled bush on the shaft to be artificially aged.
EFFECT: longer life, higher reliability.
