FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: due to distinctive properties, caused by presence of an adamantane moiety, materials obtained from polybasic carboxylic acids with a skeleton structure have improved operational properties and are widely used in various engineering fields. The method involves reacting 1-hydroxy-substituted adamantanes with vinylidene chloride in molar ratio of 1:1-3 in the presence of concentrated sulphuric acid, holding the reaction mixture at temperature of 5-20°C for 1-2.5 hours, adding fuming nitric acid in molar ratio of 1:2-5 with respect to an adamantane substrate and then adding formic acid in molar ratio of 1:1-10 with respect to the adamantane substrate and holding for 1-12 hours at room temperature.
EFFECT: simple process and low cost of production are achieved by using more affordable material, carrying out the reaction in one reaction vessel, simple process scheme, reduced amount of wastes and low environmental load, method enables to obtain end products with high output.
