FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel method of producing 3-amino-1-adamantanol and acid addition salts thereof. The method involves oxidation of adamantane with fuming nitric acid in molar ratio of 1:7-15 in the presence of glacial acetic acid in molar ratio of 1:0.5-2.5 with respect to adamantane, followed by addition of aqueous urea solution in molar ratio of 1:1-5 with respect to adamantane, heating the reaction mixture for 0.5-5 hours at temperature of 70-125°C and further reaction with concentrated sulphuric acid in molar ratio of 1:5-20 with respect to adamantane, followed by heating the reaction mass for 6-25 hours at 60-120°C. Content of urea in the water, which is an amination agent in the present reaction, is 44-52%.
EFFECT: method enables to use readily available material and significantly simplifies the apparatus scheme of the process.
