FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in order to significantly reduce the input centre angle, a cone electrode is placed near the region of entrance of electrons into a cylindrical analyser, said cone electrode creating an electrostatic field which provides second-order angular focusing with a centre angle of 20°, the value of which enables to increase the distance between the sample and the analyser with a coaxially built-in electron gun as much as possible.
EFFECT: longer focal distance for placing additional devices near the analysed sample.
