FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to column mass exchangers, particularly, to tray of column with transverses flow and to method of their application. Proposed tray has top part and sets of caps separated by overflow barriers. Said caps have walls surrounding the holes for steam atop the tray. Holes are made in walls to allow fluid to flow from tray top part into caps. Extra holes are made in the walls to allow the fluid discharge from said caps. Swirlers arranged in the caps swirl steam and fluid to facilitate mass transfer and/or heat exchange between steam and fluid in caps.
EFFECT: facilitated mass transfer.
