FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves collecting an oil sample, preliminary preparation of the sample and feeding into a spectral light source, detecting optical radiation signals, wherein a sample collected from the standard drain point and wash-off from the main filter are thoroughly mixed and divided into two portions; the second portion of the oil sample is further analysed with an X-ray fluorescent analyser with capillary optics with simultaneous detection in the spectral light source; information from both devices is then processed by a program which compares the level of measured parameters with parameters of a statistical reference model of a properly functioning engine, identifies diagnostic defect features and outputs information for making a diagnostic decision on further operation of the engine, which is sent to a common data base.
EFFECT: finding new diagnostic features for detecting defects at early stages of development thereof.
