SUBSTANCE: in a liquid crystal display device, the cycle of performing the periodic illumination function during backlight scanning and the cycle of vertical synchronisation signal are made equal, when realising the interpolated image inserting mode, wherein an interpolated image signal formed based on two or more continuous frame images, is inserted between frames and displayed on a liquid crystal panel. Furthermore, the cycle of performing the periodic illumination operation during backlight scanning is made longer than the cycle of the vertical synchronisation signal (or backlight scanning is stopped), when the superimposed image output mode is realised, wherein the same frame image is displayed on the liquid crystal panel continuously n times.

EFFECT: minimising the frequency of appearance of a multiple loop and blurriness when displaying a moving image.
