FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and may be used for producing large-sized shell rings of VVER-1000 reactor bodies. Solid-forged billet is produced, its length making at least that of shell with allowance for machining stock. Billet wall thickness is at least twice as larger as shell ring wall thickness. Samples for mechanical tests are taken on billet inner surface side, at thickness stock. Sampling is executed at the distance from billet ends not smaller than billet thickness. Specimens of said samples are cut so that their length axes are located at the distance from billet inner surface making at least 1/3T and not over 1/2T where T is billet thickness. Rings are cut for production weld check joint on biller inner side.
EFFECT: higher reliability and longer life.
