FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cutting and may be used in composite mills with mechanical attachment of replaceable indexable inserts. This mill comprises body whereat fitted are the main replaceable indexable inserts in the body seats. Said inserts are confined by top and bottom polygonal surfaces and lateral surfaces arranged there between to form cutting edges crossing at insert vertex at intersection between top and bottom surfaces. Every insert as-fitted in its seat has working major and auxiliary cutting edges crossing at working vertex. Working vertices of all said inserts fitted in the body seats are located in one plane perpendicular to mill axis. The mill comprises extra indexable inserts confined by rectangular top and bottom surfaces and lateral surfaces arranged there between to form cutting edges crossing at vertices. Every said plate is fitted in the body seats tangentially outside of the major indexable insert to rest on its lateral surface adjoining the major cutting edge.
EFFECT: higher cutting efficiency.
