FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method involves X-raying the circular weld seam on a tubular element, detecting the X-ray radiation that passes through the weld seam with a detector, and converting the radiation image of the weld seam into a radiographic image. The source of X-ray radiation is a rod-type anode of an X-ray machine which is introduced into the cavity of the tubular element behind the plane of the circular weld seam; X-ray irradiation is carried out and the X-ray detector located outside the tubular element receives X-ray radiation that passes through the area of the circular weld seam through a rotating slotted collimator with radially oriented slots.

EFFECT: high reliability of inspecting weld seams of tubular welded covers, simplifying the process of obtaining an X-ray picture of a weld seam, avoiding the need to rotate the inspected cover around the radiator.
