FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in producing fine titanium dioxide, which is used as a photocatalyst for photocatalytic treatment of water and air, as well as an adsorbent, pigment or support of an active component for preparing catalysts. The method of producing titanium dioxide with an anatase modification involves preparing an aqueous solution of titanyl sulphate and sulphuric acid and subsequent hydrolysis thereof in hydrothermal conditions with simultaneous treatment of the solution with microwave radiation. The hydrolysis process is carried out continuously in flow conditions at volume flow rate of 0.01-1 l/min, titanyl sulphate concentration of 0.01-1 mol/l, by exposing the solution flowing through a quartz tube to microwave radiation with power of 100-1500 W.
EFFECT: invention enables continuous production of TiO2 with high output and specific surface area of more than 300 m2/g.
