FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method relates to machining by high-alloy cutting tools of application category K in the form of tool tips.Proposed method comprises temperature measurements effected in the zone of contact between hard alloy and machined material at different cutting speeds to construct a graphical relationship. Then, constructed graph is used to set optimum cutting speed as that whereat heating temperature in said zone corresponds to temperature whereat wear is formed at chamfer formed in cutting on tool plate cutting wedge rear surface and roughness with the maximum fractal size corresponding to maximum wear resistance.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of determination.
