FORECASTING OF CARBIDE CUTTING TOOL WEAR RESISTANCE Russian patent published in 2015 - IPC G01N3/58

Abstract RU 2569901 C1

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: tests for the change in value of initial parameter from properties of surface and subsurface structure formed during manufacture of carbide cutting tool are performed. Reference wear resistance tests are executed in cutting of materials that exhibit intense adhesion wear at optimum cutting speed or that approximating thereto. Reference, i.e. correlation relationship "wear resistance - initial parameter" is plotted. Only value of initial parameter of current batch of carbide cutting tools is statistically controlled, and wear resistance for current batch of carbide tools is predicted on the basis of the relationship. The oxygen concentration in surface and subsurface structure of carbide material is used as input parameter, with its increasing the wear resistance of the carbide cutting tools of applicability group K increases.

EFFECT: higher accuracy and lower labour input of forecast of wear resistance of carbide cutting tools.
