FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing a polycarbonate, the polycarbonate, as well as moulded articles and optical memory devices or diffusion and optical discs. According to the present method, a polycarbonate is obtained by melt re-esterification, where at least one dihydroxyaryl compound is converted with at least one diaryl carbonate using at least one catalyst. An inhibitor is added to the melt before the last reaction step and at the last or after the last reaction step, one or more aliphatic hydroxy dicarboxylic acids and/or hydroxy polycarboxylic acids or derivatives thereof are added.

EFFECT: polycarbonates obtained using said method, after processing into moulded articles or extrudates, satisfy requirements for low charge on a substrate surface coupled with low charge variation.
