FIELD: measurement equipment.
SUBSTANCE: case with a measuring head and two locating pins are mounted on a shaft end face, the said pins are to be placed in the groove being measured and are to provide for the contact of a measuring rod with the outer cylindrical surface in its first point. Mutual angular position of the case and the shaft is aligned by back-and-rotary movements of the case in order to ensure that the locating pins touch the first side surface of the groove being measured which is placed with the first contact point of the measuring rod on the one side of the axis of the said groove. The first indications are read. The case is moved along the shaft end face in the direction to the width of the measured groove up to the contact of the locating pins with the second side surface of the said groove. The second indications are read. The case is rotated by 180° so that the measuring rod touches the outer cylindrical shaft surface in the second point which is diametrally opposite to its first point. Mutual angular position is aligned so that the locating pins touch the second side surface of the groove being measured. The third indications are read. The width of the groove being measured is defined as per the difference of the first and second indications and with regard to the locating pin diameter; and the deviation from symmetry is defined as per the half-difference between the first and the third indications.
EFFECT: measurement of parameters of a groove on the shaft end face.
