SUBSTANCE: method involves displaying frequency domain positions for transmitting a position reference signal using n physical resource blocks and obtaining the value n according to the signalling message; displaying time domain positions for transmitting the position reference signal using the remaining orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing symbols in a subframe, except orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing symbols for physical downlink control channel transmission and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing symbols for reference signal transmission, which characterise a cell, and transmitting the position reference signal in accordance with the frequency domain position and the time domain position. Position reference signal is transmitted using the method and apparatus disclosed herein.
