FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, particularly, to development of antiwear coating for cutting tools. Cutting tool surface is activated at 300-350°C by carbothermy with nitration. Antiwear film represents laminar nano-size basalt enamel film produced from mineral basalt cotton by leaching for removal of calcium, by reduction of natural basalt chemical structure by sol-gel process and by application of produced gel at the tool activated surface at 500-550°C with no air ingress.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of tool surface hardening.
