METHOD OF PREDICTING UNFAVOURABLE COURSE OF ACUTE PERIOD OF GUILLAINE-BARRE SYNDROME Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61B5/488

Abstract RU 2497449 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, in particular to neurology. In the first 2 weeks of disease ENMG- examination of patient is carried out. Conduction of excitation on ulnar nerve is analysed. Value of amplitude of dM-response of motor portions of ulnar nerve from one upper extremity is measured. If value of the parameter is from 3.2 to 0.8 mV, development of the fourth stage of GBS is predicted by North-American scale (NAS), and if the parameter decreases to 0.7 mV and lower, development of the fifth stage of the disease by NAS with necessity to perform artificial lung ventilation to patient is predicted.

EFFECT: method is available, inexpensive, non-invasive and ensures increased accuracy of prediction of unfavourable course of acute period of GBS due to ENMG objectivity, reflecting degree of affection of peripheral nerves and spread of pathological process.
