SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a coating for elastomer straight-line profiles, primarily for windscreen wiper bands, and a method of making such profiles. A polymer matrix with a solid lubricating material embedded therein is obtained by polymerising a mixture containing a solid lubricating material and a low-molecular weight cross-linking agent in the absence of polymer binding materials. In one version, the matrix is obtained by thermal polymerisation. The cross-linking agent used is fully alkoxylated melamine derivatives, partially alkoxylated melamine derivatives, hexamethoxymethyl melamine and derivatives thereof. An example of solid lubricating materials is graphite and high-density polyethylene. The invention describes a windscreen wiper band having such a coating, as well as a method of making an elastomer straight-line profile with the coating disclosed herein.
