ULTRASONIC IMMERSION MULTI-SECTIONAL COMBINED PIEZOELECTRIC CONVERTER Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC G01N29/00

Abstract RU 2499254 C2

FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: piezoelectric converter comprises a tight body with a damping substance, piezoelements installed inside the body and arranged in the body symmetrically relative to the acoustic axis of the converter, and a lens coupled with piezoelements at the side of the radiating surface of the piezoelements, at the same time piezoelements are arranged at the sharp angle to the acoustic axis of the piezoelectric converter, acoustic axes of piezoelements cross between each other on the longitudinal axis of the converter in direction of radiation of the converter, besides, piezoelements have pairwise identical shape relative to the longitudinal axis of the converter, with electrodes on their opposite surfaces, connected to an electric tight slot, the vector of polarisation of all piezoelements is directed either to the side of radiation, or towards the damping substance, electrodes of piezoelements arranged at one side are serially electrically connected to each other, acoustic axes of all piezoelements are arranged in one plane, stretching via the longitudinal axis of the converter, and the lens is made as common for all piezoelements or comprises separate sections, connected to each other in places of coupling with a binding substance, for instance, glue or polymer compound.

EFFECT: increased length of working zone of a piezoelectric converter and expansion of its directivity pattern.
