FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: oscillations of electric arc furnace housing noise are measured; with that, based on the measured electrode current, a current evaluation signal referring to frequency range of the measured electrode current is determined. Based on the measured oscillations of the housing noise, an oscillation evaluation signal referring to frequency range of the measured oscillations of the housing noise is determined; as an emission measure, there formed is a quotient of the oscillation evaluation signal and the current evaluation signal, at least for one common frequency for measured electrode current and measured oscillations of the housing noise there proposed is a method, by means of which possibility of determination of a value characterising the working state of the electrode of the electric arc furnace is provided.

EFFECT: improving accuracy of determination of an electric arc emission.
