METHOD OF DIAGNOSING METASTATIC AFFECTION OF SENTINEL LYMPH NODE IN CASE OF THYROID GLAND CANCER Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61B8/08

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to method of diagnosing metastatic affection of sentinel lymph node in case of thyroid gland cancer. Ultrasonic examination of shape, size and echo structure of TG tissue, TG tumorous node, as well as neck (regional) LN is performed. Density or degree of deformation of earlier discovered node formation of TG, as well as each of regional LN are measured by US sensor with elastography function. If indicators of density or degree of deformation respectively of one of regional lymph nodes coincide with density or deformation degree of pathologic nidus of thyroid gland, coefficient of lymph node rigidity is calculated as ratio of said lymph node density to density of one of unaltered lymph nodes or as ratio of deformation degree of one of unaltered lymph nodes to degree of deformation of said lymph node. Value of lymph node rigidity coefficient ≥3 makes it possible to make a conclusion, that said lymph node is metastatically affected.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to discover presence or absence of sentinel lymph node, which is the determinative factor for determination of operation volume and elaboration of treatment tactics.
