SUBSTANCE: set of invention relates to device and method of vehicle control. Control device can define index of control over required engine rpm or required transmission gear ratio on the basis of said index. Said index represents an acceleration or composite acceleration. Index proceeds from vehicle operating conditions that corresponds to drive intentions. Method of control consists in determination of said index to control engine required rpm or transmission gear ratio based on said index. Required rpm is preset in compliance with vehicle speed and index.
EFFECT: adaptive control.
