FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method is proposed to heat air, by mixing of fuel with a part of air taken with an excess ratio from 1 to 5 to the stoichiometric one, and previously heated to the temperature of catalytic oxidation process as a result of heat exchange with at least a part of oxidation products, to produce a gaseous fuel mixture, its catalytic oxidation to carbon dioxide and water, and mixing of oxidation products with the remaining part of air, at the same time the maximum temperature of oxidation products is maintained as 10-50°C below the temperature of stability of catalyst, but not higher than 900°C. A device is proposed for air heating, comprising a heat exchange section of air heating with oxidation products, a mixer of heated air and fuel, a start-up heater, a catalytic cassette and a mixer of oxidation products with air, and also a method to control the process of air heating by regulation of air heating temperature by variation of air flow, regulation of temperature of preliminary heating of some air by variation of the flow of a part of oxidation products sent into a heat exchange section, regulation of the maximum temperature of oxidation by variation of the fuel mixture air excess ratio.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to use low-calorie gas mixtures as fuel, and also liquid distillate fuel, including gas condensate, and to produce heated air at the same time in a wide range of temperatures, to the minimum extent polluted with carbon oxide and nitrogen oxides.
