SUBSTANCE: what is presented is a method for determining the pulmonary tumour sensitivity to the tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy in the patients suffering lung cancer in cytological material by real-time polymerase chain reaction using primers for detection of 8 deletions in exon 19 of EGFR gene, and L858R replacement of EGFR gene in exon 21. If any of these mutations has been detected, pulmonary tumour sensitivity to the tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy is considered to be positive, and the gefitinib or erlotinib therapy is started.

EFFECT: method is characterised by high information value and sensitivity; it is easy to implement and interpret the findings.
